It's a new season!
At the age of 25, persons reach a critical and pivotal stage in their development. Medical practitioners claim this is the age when one's brain reaches full development. As such, it is the age when the laws of many countries grant added potential responsibilities, e.g. the adoption of children. In addition to the normal ups and downs of life, twenty-five is also an age when most of us start to make preparations for, or set the foundations for life-impacting decisions: pace-setting our careers, and finding our spouse for marriage. It is at this age we often settle with our lifelong friends - as many school acquaintances branch out on their own paths (or simply don't 'find time' for us).
This season, I've learnt, therefore, comes with a lot of pressures, from internal and external expectations, aspirations to fit in with the 'status quo'. On the opposite end of the spectrum, older folk may typify 'just blooming' adults as 'unfit' or 'inexperienced' and scorn high aspirations of the young mistaking it with pride (or possibly feeling threatened on their part), and often may scoff at, or belittle even positive efforts made by the emerging adult generation.
In either case, the age group of the twenties comes with a host of stressors (25 being smack in the middle), which, if not adequately handled, may cause confusion, distraction, depression or rebellion from the 25-year old.
Is there really a way to thrive during this turbulent season? This blog explores personal thoughts and lessons learnt from the perspective of a 25-year old on navigating issues such as maintaining and growing a strong walk with God, dealing with loneliness, making the impact on our world as youth, walking in our purpose and having a thriving career foundation. Join me as we learn along our journey at 25 - after all, it's our season to thrive!
P.S. Is there any other life-changing decision that you find you face/have faced at this age? If so, let us know! Share your lessons learnt and how you navigated it!
