One of the mandates of the church is to call people to repentance. Jesus said this is what is written: “The Messiah must suffer and must rise from death three days later, and in His Name, the message about repentance and the forgiveness of sins must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.”
Repentance is when an individual is sorry for the wrongs he/she has done and turns away from such wrong doing. There are certain ways of life that we must turn from if we are going to be pleasing to God. Isaiah 53:6-7 says: “Turn to the Lord and pray to Him, now that He is near. Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking. Let them turn to the Lord, our God. He is merciful and quick to forgive.”
We are living in a society in which many people are complacent with sin. Their conscience no longer bothers them, so they are no longer embarrassed or ashamed of about the evil and wrong doing. This is the goal of Satan himself, whose intention is to lead as many people to hell as possible.
But God’s Word says in Ezekiel 33:11: “The Lord said, ‘Tell them that as surely as I, the Sovereign Lord, am the Living God, I do not enjoy seeing sinners die. I would rather see them stop sinning and live. Israel, stop the eveil you are doing. Why do you want to die?”
Many people are giving Satan too much of a stronghold. We must turn back to the way of righteousness and let the blessings of God flow in our lives and in our hearts. ”A nation without God’s guidance is a nation without order. Happy are those who keep God’s law” (Proverbs 29:18). The time for slumbering is long over. Turn back to God. Give up the sinful way of living that displeases God. God wants to forgive us all, but we need to confess our sins and repent and live a righteous life.
